10 Questions

The questions in this post come from a post by OutFox blog please pop over and have a read of the original post there 🙂

I always like posts that share a little bit of something different about people. I would love to know what you think of my answers and to see your answers to these questions in the comments, or on your blog (share a link in the comments)!

1.When was the last time you climbed a tree?

It has been within the last year. I went on one of those GoApe high ropes courses which require you to climb trees. Not quite the as I recall climbing trees as a small child, without safety ropes, haha. Mind you I don’t know how I was ever brave enough for that anyway! I didn’t manage to complete the whole GoApe course, it was just too high and too hard (and I guess I am just too old now!) but, despite my fear of falling, I enjoyed it. There’s nothing quite like a bit of an adrenaline rush, and challenging yourself, which is something I always enjoy!

2.What’s your favorite drink?

This is a tough one, definitely not anything alcoholic, haven’t touched a drop in almost 5 years! I do like Cherry Coke, but again I’ve stopped drinking fizzy drinks, trying to reduce sugar in my diet (I’m such a bore…). So, I guess I will go with a nice cup of tea… no! Hot chocolate with a splash of Monin Black Forest syrup. Only as a treat, again too much sugar, but it’s so nice to have as a treat once in a while. But, yes for a normal day, tea – white, two sweeteners, must be the colour of He-Man 🙂

3.Are you usually early or late?

Early, definitely early! I would rather be an hour early than a minute late. I’m one of those people who sets all the clocks 5 minutes fast. I can’t abide being late for anything, ever! I even get to work early, and unlike anyone else who if they are early then make a cuppa, have a chat etc I just get straight into working and don’t stop for my first cuppa for at least an hour.

4.What is something that is considered a luxury, but you don’t think you could live without?

I think in today’s society much of what we have is really a luxury, and much of that something we couldn’t live without, wouldn’t you agree? From mobile phones, to cars, laptops and so on. I suppose my phone would be the main one that I couldn’t live without, it’s so important for me being able to keep in touch with my children, partner, friends and family.

5.What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?

I haven’t got a clue, I have dreams sure, but actual long-term goals or things I expect/hope will happen in the next 10 years, who knows. I do make plans, for the short and medium term, but not that far ahead. So much can change in 10 years, and I have no fixed plans of anything to look forward to in that time! At the moment I am just looking forward to our next holiday and other weekend breaks this year, none of which are more than 6 months away!

6.What would you rate 10 / 10?

There’s always room for improvement, don’t you think? can anything really score 10/10? Even films or books that I absolutely love can have minor faults. I find perfection in imperfection, nothing and nobody is perfect.

7.What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?

I wouldn’t consider myself a lucky person, I’m not particularly unlucky either. I’ve had more than my fair share of misfortune, but there are those who have it worse, and those who have it better. I can’t actually think of any particularly lucky things that have happened to me though. How do you define something as a lucky occurrence? My mom probably has a better idea than me, she would say the luckiest thing that happened to her was the night she was meant to go out to a particular pub in Birmingham in the 1970’s, and her plans fell through, which might in that moment have felt like bad luck, however that pub was then one of those hit in the Birmingham pub bombings, and had she been there she might not be alive now. That’s a lucky occurrence isn’t it?

8.What question would you most like to know the answer to?

Life, the Universe and everything… haha. The ultimate question ‘Why me?’ that’s one we all ask at some point isn’t it? when misfortune strikes, that self-pity hits and we all want to know ‘why me?’ but really, why not?

9.What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done that actually turned out pretty well?

Oh gosh, really? So many things! Haha, not really, I don’t think I tend to do many dumb things. Whilst I was experiencing my mental health problems I did a lot more dumb stuff, but on the whole that’s not a very me thing. I guess the dumbest thing I ever did was giving up my home to move in with my ex, that was pretty stupid with the way things turned out in that relationship. However, it did also lead me to where I am now, the person I am now spending my life with, new friends and in a roundabout way my career, so despite being a dreadful mistake in itself, it’s turned out pretty good in the end 😀

10.What gets you fired up?

I’m a very emotional person, even having recovered from BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) of which emotional instability is a core component, it doesn’t take much to stir my emotions. I can get fired up, in a good way, very easily by anything that inspires me, but also in a bad way, by anything that pushes my buttons. I’m passionate like that. But, if I’m fired up with anger you likely won’t know it, I still internalise that too much. But the thing that fires me up most is anyone wronging someone I love or care about, oh boy will you know about it if you hurt someone I care about! If I was a violent person I would be dangerous in that situation, haha but I’m not violent, I prefer to research legal ways to get my revenge… muahhaha…

  1. Well impressed you can say you recently climbed a tree – what a great question! I also whole heartedly agree with tea the colour of He-man – although never heard it described that way – its perfect! It’s interesting what you say about lucky – and how we define luck. I feel genuinely in my heart lucky to have my children, to have my lovely cosy home, to be in love with my partner, that I have just enough money to pay each bill that comes… the list goes on. I put all those little things down to luck. But yeah – I guess there are different ideas of what lucky is. There’s some tough questions there – What is the question you’d most like the answer to? – gosh that would take some thinking about 🙂
    Thanks for sharing xx

  2. You are right with number 6 there 😉 Thank you for sharing, have enjoyed reading through. I have reblogged as well 🙂 x

  3. Haha, tea the color of he-man is a create image… And one I have to wholeheartedly agree on. I love q&a posts, they’re fascinating, and thank goodness your mum went to a different pub!

    1. Haha, yeah I can’t stand it when people make tea that looks like dishwasher water or so dark it looks like coffee hehe. Indeed, I wouldn’t be here now if she had gone that night! x
